Setting up Registrations for the Events Calendar

  1. Install the plugin “The Events Calendar” by Modern Tribe from our welcome page (if not already installed).
  2. If you haven’t created an event, do so by going to the WordPress dashboard and navigating to Events -> Add New.
  3. A registration form will now appear on your created event or any other published event.
  4. Add a registration form for a specific event to another page on your site using the shortcode [rtec-registration-form event=743] with the “event” setting being the post ID for that event. Blocks also available.
  5. You can configure the form fields, messaging, registrations limits etc by navigating to Registrations -> Settings.
  6. You can configure the email options on the “Email” tab of the settings page.
  7. See a quick overview of your events and registrations on the “Registrations” page.
  8. Add, edit, and remove registrations manually by navigating to the “Registrations” tab and clicking “+ Manage Registrations” for an event. You can also export or view submission details here.

Follow these steps for a manual installation:

  1. Make sure you have the plugin “The Events Calendar” by Modern Tribe installed and activated. Or install it using our quiick install button after activation.
  2. From the dashboard of your site, navigate to Plugins -> Add New.
  3. Select the Upload option and click “Choose File.”
  4. A popup message will appear. Upload the plugin files from your desktop.
  5. Follow any instructions that appear.
  6. Activate the plugin from the Plugins page and navigate to Events -> Registrations to get started setting up options.

How do I disable registrations for a specific event?

Registrations are enabled by default for all events. You can disable event registrations on the “Edit Event” page or from the “Registrations” tab under “Overview”. You can also disable registrations globally on the “Form” tab.

Can I set a deadline for event registrations?

Yes. You can set a deadline relative to the event start time or define a specific registration deadline for each event.

Can I edit registrations and export them?

Yes. Use the “Detailed View” for any event to manage event registrations, including editing and exporting them.

Can I display a list of event attendees on the front-end?

Yes. You can display a list of registered attendees above the registration form. Attendee names will only appear after they have been reviewed in the admin.

Can I display the registration form on another page or post?

Yes. Use the event ID in the shortcode to display the registration form anywhere on your site.

The registration form is not hidden initially. Why is that?

This is usually caused by a JavaScript error on the page. Try disabling other plugins or switching themes to identify the issue.

Is this plugin compatible with WordPress multisite?

Yes. Each site in a multisite network has its own database table for storing event registrations.

Can attendees cancel their registration?

Yes. Attendees can cancel their registration using a secure link sent in their confirmation email.
